Ledbury
Carnival 2008 took place on Monday 25 August 2008. The 2008 event was the 34th Ledbury Carnival and my 11th year covering the event. The theme was
Countries of the world. Thanks
to Chris Poole and Andy Ward who helped me with taking photos. If you wish to help
for
any future carnivals, please contact me.
This year was different for me. I have not taken photos at the Ledbury Primary School bridge this year. Instead taking them outside Tesco. Also a sneak preview setting up on the Sunday.

Ledbury
Carnival 2006 took place on Monday 28 August 2006. The 2006 event was the 32nd
Ledbury Carnival and my 9th year covering the event. The theme was Music. Thanks
to Florence Chow (from Guangzhou, China!) who helped me with taking photos.
We had a visitor from Swansea visiting the 2006 carnival. Did you travel far to get to the carnival. Let me know.

Ledbury Carnival 2005 took
place on Monday 29 August 2005. The 2005 event was the 31st
Ledbury Carnival. The theme was Greatest Events in history. I had a few friends
helping me take photos and video footage. Many thanks to Linda Richards and
Alison Pearson for helping me on the day. There will be
an official Ledbury Carnival 2005 DVD to be released in November 2005. On sale on
this site.
Yet again I was at 3 locations during the carnival procession. Ledbury Rugby Ground at 11:30, On the stage at 12:30, 12:50 at Ledbury Primary School Bridge. As always there was a running commentary by Hereford Hospital Radio when the float went past the town. At least the weather hold until around 4pm when it started to rain a bit.
The carnival prize draw returned to 2005 after a year break in 2004. Top prize was £100. Other prizes included a TV/Video combi, a portrait, carnival DVDs
There are a collection of photos taken on my digital camera and digital camcorder. There are repeat photos of the procession but from different angles. Happy viewing over 450 photos!

Ledbury Carnival 2004 took
place on Monday 30 August 2004. The 2004 event was the 30th
Ledbury Carnival. The theme was Hollywood Comes To Ledbury. I had a few friends
helping me take photos and video footage. Many thanks to Alistair Pearson,
Matthew Pace Bardon and Natasha Stuart for helping me on the day. An official
DVD of the 2004 event is available via this site.
Yet again I was at 3 locations during the carnival procession. Ledbury Rugby Ground at 11:30, Top cross where the traffic lights were around 12:35, 13:10 at Ledbury Primary School. As always there was a running commentary by Hereford Hospital Radio when the float went past the town.

Ledbury Carnival 2003 took
place on Monday 25 August 2003. The 2003 event was the 29th
Ledbury Carnival. The 2004 will be it's 30th. The theme was the
Country Carnival. I have used my new digital camera so I took
more photos than I intended to, over 200 photos again. As in 2002,
I was at 3 locations during the carnival procession. Ledbury
Rugby Ground at 11:15, Outside of the Clock
tower where the High Street, Bye Street and the Homend meets at
around 12:15, 13:00 at Ledbury
Primary School. The weather was a big cloudy but it is one of the
biggest I have seen. An estimated 10,000 people turned up. This
year, we had a running commentary by Hereford Hospital Radio when
the float went past the town.

Ledbury
Carnival 2002 took place on Monday 26 August 2001. The 2002 event
was the 28th Ledbury Carnival. The theme was Royal Pageant, in
conjunction with the celebration of the queen jubilee. Yet again,
I had my digital camera, however I ended up taking over 200
photos! I was at 3 locations during the carnival procession. I was
at Ledbury Rugby Ground at 11:15, The High
Street at 12:35 and Ledbury Primary School at
about 12:55. On this and the following few
pages, are a collection of digital images of the Event. It was
not the best of weather being cloudy but it was the biggest
carnival ever staged. An estimated 10,000 people turned up.
The main acts in the 2002 carnival were pop group Red Alert and Queen B (a Freddie Mercury tribute band).

Ledbury Carnival 2001 took place on Monday 27
August 2001. The 2001 event was the 27th Ledbury Carnival. The
theme was Flower Power, in conjunction with Britain in Bloom
competition. The only different compared from the other years, is
that I took only a digital camera and no camcorder. I was at 3
locations during the carnival procession again. I was at MSF at 11:30,
The High Street at 12:35 and Ledbury Primary
School at about 13:10. On this and the following
few pages, are a collection of digital images of the Event. The
weather was the best and reported the hottest August Bank Holiday
in 10 years. Not a cloud in the sky (well a few at least).
The main acts in the 2001 carnival were pop group Red Alert and Merseybeat.
Ledbury
Carnival 2000 took place on Monday 28 August 2000. The 2000 event
was the 26th Ledbury Carnival. It was a bit of a challenge for me
part 2. I tried in 1999 and just made it. I was at 3 locations
during the carnival procession. I was outside MSF Roundabout at
12:00, The New Street at 12:25 and Ledbury Primary School at
about 12:50pm. They changed the route from 1999, hence I had very
little time to run up New Street to meet the procession. I didn't
get to the top in time, and as the High Street was extremely busy,
I thought for a change, take the pictures outside Somerfield in
New Street. I also had a camcorder with me again this year. On
this and the following few pages, are a collection of photos and
camcorder images of the Event. The weather wasn't as good as 1999,
as there was a few spots of rain, but it was sunny. There was
about 8,000 visitors again! As well as the Carnival procession,
Ledbury had its own Circus in the middle of the High Street. What
I didn't know at the time, was that one of the float hit a
building turning out of New Street into the High Street. The £500
first prize in the draw went to a visitor from Germany!

Ledbury
Carnival 1999 took place on Monday 30 August 1999. The 1999 event
was the 25th anniversary year. It was a bit of a challenge for me.
I was at 3 locations during the carnival procession. I was
outside MSF Roundabout at 12:15pm, The High Street at 12:55pm and
Ledbury Primary School at about 13:20. I also had a camcorder
with me. On this and the following few pages, are a collection of
photos and camcorder images of the Event. For the first time, the
carnival route went through the Deer Park Housing estate, due to
a turning restriction at New Street/High Street. Thanks to the
hot sunny weather, there was about 8,000 visitors! As well as the
Carnival procession, Ledbury had its own It's a Knockout
Competition.
Ledbury Carnival 1998 was held on August Bank Holiday, Monday
31 August 1998. The High Street was closed to traffic, so all the
activities could take place in the centre of Ledbury. There was
bungee jumping, an Escapologists, a street fair and many other
events.
